| This week’s installment of the festival features site-specific performance in the Sandbox style, uniting actors, audience and space for an unforgettable evening of performance. The audience will gather at the Northeast corner Montrose and Wolcott and be lead by actors to the outdoor performance space. Sandbox illuminates Parks’ short texts by sharing her plays in unexpected Ravenswood nooks and crannies. This unique style of performance reveals surprising and exhilarating moments of theatre can be created and enhanced when we tell the stories of the ordinary places we pass every day. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

In November 2002, Pulitzer-winner Parks committed to writing a play a day for the next 365 days. The world premiere of this play cycle is being performed as a yearlong national festival simultaneously in major cities and communities around the country. From November 13, 2006 to November 12, 2007, over 600 theaters across the country will create the largest theater collaboration in U.S. History. The Chicago portion of the Festival is run by a “Hub Council” of theaters led by Next Theatre Company, and includes Congo Square Theatre, Goodman Theatre, The Hypocrites, Steppenwolf Theatre, Uma Productions and Writer’s Theatre.
